Jim Thompson, MD, FACOG- Medical Director
Dr. Thompson is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist who has been subspecialty fellowship trained in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Thompson has been treating families experiencing infertility issues since 1986. He is a past Secretary/Treasurer and currently the Chairman of the New Mexico Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston and completed his residency training in Obstetrics/Gynecology at the University of Kansas-Wichita. He completed a 2-year subspecialty fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Thompson is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists; and, Subspecialty Fellowship Trained in Reproductive Endocrinology. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. Dr. Thompson was appointed as the State of New Mexico Representative for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Reed is a Board Certified Embryologist/Andrologist and is the director of the CRM embryology and andrology laboratories. He received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 1989 in the study of reproductive physiology and molecular biology. Dr. Reed has worked extensively in the area of mammalian embryology, with over 20 years of experience, and has been directing human IVF laboratories since 1992. He is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the College of Reproductive Biology, the Society for the Study of Reproduction, and the International Embryo Transfer Society.
Jayme is the IVF nurse and Donor Egg Nurse Coordinator at CRM, and has been an integral part of Dr. Thompson’s dedicated and caring healthcare team for over 13 years. She helps patients plan their IVF cycle in detail, and helps them understand what they can expect throughout the treatment process, including explaining the various testing that will occur, and reviewing medications. Jayme is responsible for recruitment and screening of egg donors and egg donor recipients, and also guides each recipient in the selection of their donor.
Dr Caperton is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist who completed his subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Texas. He continued at the University of Texas as an Assistant Professor until 2005 when he joined Dr. Thompson and the staff at the Center for Reproductive Medicine of New Mexico.
Dr. Caperton has been the recipient of multiple awards in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Most notably, he received the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society AAOGF Award in 2003 and 2004 for work focusing on the molecular genetics of assisted reproduction. This award is considered one of the most prized awards in this country for physicians practicing Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Caperton has also received awards for his commitment to Alternative Medicine modalities and has served as a consultant to the National Institutes of Health Consortium on Latinos and Genetics.
Dr. Caperton has research interests and expertise in assisted reproduction, infertility, stem cells, genetics, and transgenic technology. He has been involved in research projects involving the study of polycystic ovaries, endometriosis and In Vitro Fertilization. He was a co-investigator in the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study ever completed on menopause and hormone therapy.
Dr. Caperton is an expert in the treatment of Infertility and Reproductive Endocrine disorders from both a non-invasive and surgical perspective. He has a special interest in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, both of which are minimally invasive types of surgical procedures that allow patients to leave the hospital the same day.
Dr. Caperton is the proud father of three children. His wife is a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Women's Specialists here in Albuquerque.
Dr. Caperton has held memberships, attended or presented at national conferences for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Assisted Reproduction, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the Society for Gynecological Investigation, the Society for the Study of Reproduction, the International Embryo Transfer Society, the Gordon Conference, and the Endocrine Society.
